Did you know that all NYC Parks Dog Runs are managed, maintained and funding by volunteers?
While the dogs runs are within public parks, NYC Parks is only responsible for maintaining the basic infrastructure of dog parks — the fencing and lights. Everything that happens inside the actual dog run must be managed by an active community of volunteers or else the space would revert to general park space.
If you and your furry companion(s) benefit from usage of the dog park, please consider becoming a volunteer. We need volunteer help in all areas. Our primary need is for with physically maintaining the grounds — spreading mulch, filling holes, patching up the fencing, painting, etc., but just as essential is assistance with fundraising, event coordinating, grant writing, website design, and social media.
Please fill out the form below if you are willing and able to be an active member of the Marcus Garvey Dog Run community.
